Back to Business!

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed the March Break. And coming up, we have a 4 day weekend!

Students were quite distracted and hyper last week as we came back from March Break.  I hope that they will settle down, as we have so much to do before June.

Please check the "Reminders" page for upcoming important dates.

Soon, class hockey will be starting, and most of the students have signed up.  This is a wonderful opportunity for our class to bond, and participate in a sport together.  It is also crucial to remember to be good sports, and to allow everyone to play and have a good time.  Keep in mind that not everyone is at the same level in hockey.  Work together as a team, and encourage and support one another.  This also fits in with the April Character Education trait of Co-operation.  What does co-operation look like, sound like, and feel like?

You have only 3 months left of being at Thorncliffe Park.  Make the most of it!  Join a club!  Try something new!  Make a new friend!  Be kind to everyone!  Challenge yourself!  You want to have wonderful memories of your last few months of Grade 5.

As always, thank you for your support.

Exciting Learning

Hello!

As we approach the March Break, I just wanted to update parents about the exciting things that have been happening in class.

Students have been busy combining what they have learned and their creativity to design and make special projects.  In Social Studies, groups researched a First Nations group, and then created a shoebox scene which had to show as much of what they learned as possible.  In Science with Ms. Halliwell, the students designed and built wind turbines.  Their turbines needed to have a theme and be artistic, but also had to generate energy.  Students did a fabulous job with both of these projects, and I will try to post pictures at a later time.

I hope you will all have a restful, safe, but fun March Break.  Spend time together, get outdoors, and do something other than video games!

After the March Break, we still have a lot of curriculum to cover, and students only have a few more months here at Thorncliffe Park. We have some fun activities planned, and I hope students will remain well-behaved and engaged.

Have a wonderful break!
